Getting Ready for Christmas 2012

With Christmas coming up soon, we have been doing a lot including getting the house decorated, visiting Santa, using Elf on the Shelf to keep the boys behaving, etc.

In case you don't know what Elf on the Shelf is, it's a genius invention that is fairly new I think. There is a cartoon TV special that explains it, but basically the Elf on the Shelf is something you buy for your house, the kids name him (ours is "Chippy" - same as on the TV show) and he sits in your house somewhere to watch the kids behavior to report back to Santa. Every night after bedtime, he flies back to the North Pole to give Santa a daily report on whether they were naughty or nice. He then flies back and sets up in a new spot in the house. So, he moves nightly. As long as the kids believe, all you have to say is "Chippy's watching!" and it will slap them back into shape.

One of the rules of Elf on the Shelf is that you can't touch him or he loses his magic (i.e. can't fly, can't go back to the North Pole, etc). So, we were teasing the boys with that. You can hear Braxton saying "one more" after each time. He will eventually learn what "one" more means.

Here's a pic of Chippy one morning when he decided to sit himself in a car on the mantle

"Breakfast with Santa" last weekend. It included a buffet, visits with Santa, 2 real live reindeer (supposedly it was Dancer and Prancer), and face painting. Brenner loved Santa. Braxton was obsessed with watching him constantly, but wasn't a big fan of actually sitting on his lap. That was odd since he was fine with it last year.

Braxton was even obsessed with Santa eating after almost everyone had left

We went for a train ride around Atlantic Station afterwards

Last week, Santa came to Brenner's school. The teachers reported that Brenner "talked Santa's ear off"
